I cannot recommend our daughter’s counsellor highly enough. From the very beginning, she created such a warm, welcoming and safe environment that my daughter felt comfortable opening up to her in a way she never had before.
The progress my daughter has made has been nothing short of incredible. She has developed so many tools to help regulate her emotions, manage her anger, and reduce the outbursts that once affected her daily life. Since beginning counselling, the positive changes have been remarkable. Alhamdulillah, my daughter has not experienced a manic episode since last year, and seeing her become calmer, more self-aware and more hopeful has been such a blessing.
One of the things I appreciate most is that each session is followed by practical homework. These activities have not only helped my daughter but have also strengthened our relationship as mother and daughter. Together we work through exercises focused on emotional regulation, building self-esteem, healing from trauma, and developing a healthier, more positive relationship with one another. The support extends far beyond the counselling room, and that has made a huge difference in our everyday lives.
Sadly, we have had therapists in the past whose approach only seemed to make matters worse, so I was understandably anxious about trying again. This experience has been completely different. Our counsellor is compassionate, knowledgeable and genuinely invested in my daughter’s wellbeing.
What gives me the greatest peace of mind is knowing that my daughter is in a truly safe space. After every session, she looks lighter, happier and clearer in her thoughts, with a renewed motivation to keep making positive changes. As a parent, there is no greater comfort than seeing your child feel understood, supported and empowered.
We are incredibly grateful for everything our counsellor has done for our family. May Allah reward her abundantly for the care, kindness and dedication she shows to the young people she supports. Aameen.

I highly recommend her to any family looking for someone who truly cares about the individual in front of them rather than using a one size fits all approach.
She worked with my son, and I was especially impressed by her patience, compassion, and ability to connect with a child who requires extra understanding and flexibility. She recognized that every child has unique needs and adapted her approach accordingly, which made a meaningful difference.
As a therapist myself, I especially appreciated the consistent updates and thoughtful feedback she provided throughout the process. Her communication allowed me to better understand what was working, identify areas where I could improve my own approach with my son, and make positive adjustments to the environment around him. I firmly believe the best outcomes happen when everyone involved works together as a team, and she clearly values that collaborative approach.
Over the years, I have worked with many professionals who charge significantly more yet do not take the time to truly understand each child or patient as an individual. Too often, they rely on the same methods for everyone instead of recognizing that different people require different approaches. She stood out because she invested the time to understand my son's specific needs and adjusted her methods accordingly.
One of the qualities I appreciated most was her consistency in seeking to improve and her willingness to understand the perspectives of both the child and the parents. In my experience, many challenges arise not from ill intent but from miscommunication and misunderstanding. It is essential to consider the viewpoints of everyone involved rather than relying on the perspective of only one person. By taking the time to listen to all parties, she was able to gain a clearer understanding of what the underlying issue might be without allowing any one person's bias to shape the entire picture. That collaborative and open minded approach is something I greatly value and one of the main reasons I would confidently recommend her to other families.

Since the first day I’ve started therapy with Khadijah Carmen, I’ve noticed that as my therapist she pays attention to my changes and helps me be confident in a safe place and shows me how to be aware of my efforts. She’s naturally nurturingly friendly in a way that makes all my mistakes and pain feel less loaded and she’s helped me heal in many ways I’m grateful for and can’t explain she’s heard my darkest thoughts and listened to me even my most intense thoughts and she’s never once judged me in a way that made me uncomfortable or that she has been treating me from a perspective of how she feels ;about everything she knows about me. Instead she’s helped me to let go of what was holding me down so that I could climb up to the top even no matter how steep it is. She only looked at my qualities and tried to make me make use of them and become a better more defined person in skill, overlooking my flaws and making that something that would stop me from becoming who I need to be she helped me build habits that created a newer me showed me that flaws are not faults or weakness rather they’re someone’s dirt that needs cleaning that’s how she’s made me feel like I can be who I believe I can be and more polished .

I am Mariam, and I am 26 years old. I have been doing therapy sessions with Sister Khadija(Carmen) for almost two months now. I feel so grateful to Allah Almighty that I found her and started with her. As someone who kept trying to start their therapy journey and then backing out, I am so happy that I found her, Alhamdulillah.
The thing I am most grateful to her for is how genuinely sincere she is in her care for how I feel, and that she truly cares as one human being who feels for another. Like a sister, and like a kind person who empathizes with those around her. It’s not just "a job". It _is_ a job, but she chose a job like this because she truly loves helping people.
She has so much space for understanding, acceptance, and giving people the benefit of the doubt. It makes people from different backgrounds and environments feel comfortable dealing with her.

Sister UmmHalima is one of those people who is easy to talk to. Life has given her knowledge that she uses to help people navigate through turbulent times. Based on Quran and Sunnah, I'd recommend her any day.

I have been going to Sister Khadijah for a few months now and I can honestly say it’s one of the first times I’m seeing real progress with therapy. As somebody who has had many therapist and counselors for the past 7 years, I understand how difficult it is to find the right match and I am really satisfied with Sr Khadijah Alhumdulillah. I also really like the way she combines psychotherapy with Islamic practices and ideology. As a Muslimah in the west, we face advice that clashes with our region and feel like we have to choose between one or the other. Sister Khadijah gracefully combines Islamic advice with spiritual and mental healing.

The entire world is impacted by so many different events, people, ideas, beliefs, images, and the list goes on of the myriad influences everyone, youth and adults alike, are exposed to in our lives. Whether we welcome them or try to limit or prevent them from entering our thoughts and hearts, everyone is confronted with filtering and processing so much stimuli, it can be overwhelming at times. As a parent, the responsibility of nurturing your children to develop healthy habits, to learn successful life skills, and apply beliefs that will anchor them to handle hard situations and tests is hard in general; let alone the difficult challenges Muslim parents combat against to instill Islamic values and preserve implementation of them in the West.
Every child is different and only Allah knows what He has decreed for each parent to handle as a parent from that child’s birth until we return to Him, upon our own death. We may be tested with helping our child or children to manage a physical life long illness, a learning challenge, emotional trauma and the list goes on. Our children will always be our children until we die. Sometimes, we need help in raising them. Sometimes we may not even know what we need, or understand what to ask for help with, but we know that we need something because what we are doing is NOT working effectively.
Umm Halima’s calm, reassuring compassion, her kindness, her understanding, her step by step advices, insight and recommendations, her encouragement, support, and hand holding from afar, her relevant, practical insights about children, parenting, and the real world has been such a blessing from Allah the All Merciful. Allahumma baarik alayhaa. May Allah preserve and bless her service to each child and guardian that she works with and has worked with. Allahumma Aameen. I am very grateful to Allah for her dedication, commitment, professionalism and knowledge. I would certainly recommend her mentoring and coaching to others.
With gratitude to Allah and sincere thanks to Umm Halima
